Evaluating an Internet Resource:
http://yogashalaboulder.com/
Impressions:
I think the website is straightforward. The website is for a yoga studio in boulder. I haven't read through all of it, but what I have found always relates to yoga in one sense or another. The site elaborates on teachers' credibility of past work and gives a brief history of the teachers' beginning and studies in Iyengar Yoga. It also gives each teacher's phone number and email address.
Quotable Passage:
I thought this was an interesting bit of information that tells me that those who work at this studio care to know how to intelligently practice and teach yoga. Also the quote makes me wonder what the "two levels of intense testing and evaluation," are.
"All teachers at Yoga Shala are certified in the Iyengar method. Iyengar Yoga has a rigorous and demanding certification process. Candidates for certification must have taught for a minimum of three years, and must pass two levels of intense testing and evaluation. For each examination, candidates are evaluated by a panel of three Senior Teachers, and it is common for candidates to have to test more than once to pass a level. Teachers are evaluated on more than 45 different criteria, including the clarity of their instruction, their ability to teach poses safely and effectively to a wide range of students, and their skill in observing and correcting students..."
Shorter Quote from the website: "As BKS Iyengar describes it, “Yoga is a powerful tool for liberating ourselves from unwanted, ingrained patterns. Through it, we identify, acknowledge, and progressively change them.” (Light on Life, p. 134)"(Going Deeper in Yoga Practice, Yogashala.com)
